Middleton Civic Centre has an excellent
pedigree for hosting occasional live music over the last 30 years.
From hosting some of the first gig’s with now
legendary punk bands such as The Jam,
The Buzzcocks &
The Fall in the 70s, sell-out shows with 80s pop icons such as
Belinda Carlisle, Go West & Spandau Ballet’s Tony
Hadley, right through to a host of new unsigned events hosted by
the likes of XFMs Clint Boon, The Middleton Civic has an
enviable history, especially when it comes to hosting shows with the stars
of tomorrow.
The same applies to comedy, with the Civic Centre playing host to a wealth of fledgling comedians gracing it's stage on the way up such as Lenny Henry, Victoria Wood, Freddie Starr and a certain Mr Peter Kay, Paddy McGuiness and Dave Spikey. The trend is certain to carry on in the future with the new £13 Million Middleton Civic Arena due for completion in December 2008...so watch this space.
