Joe Longthorne was born on 31st May 1955, in Hull. From an early age he
showed signs of being a natural performer. His first break came when he
was asked to appear on YTV's 'Junior Showtime' a kind of variety show
featuring talented kids from the Yorkshire region.
Once the show ended in 1970, Joe played the Northern club circuit
before returning to our screens on 'Search for a Star'. Though Joe did
not win the series, it got him noticed!
Today Joe is probably known as the best vocal Impressionist the UK
has ever known; in the 80's and 90's, he was given his own TV show by
Central television and has gone on to break box office records at one of
the largest theatres in the UK! He has played Las Vagas and has
performed infront of the Queen, although, life has not always been rosey
for Joe. 2005 saw him recovering from a life saving bone marrow
operation after suffering from cancer, which has cruelly dogged most of
his adult life.
Now with his health looking really great, Joe is back! September
2006, saw him headlining a West End show at the London Palladium!
Hitting off in February 2007, he embarked on a date packed national tour
that finally ended in July and on 2nd June, he was honoured by the
'Variety Club of Great Britian' where a host of celebrities paid tribute
to him in Manchester. In 2008, You can catch Joe on another major tour
of the UK!
